Fast Appropriately and Break Every Stronghold!

God is indeed working on all of us. Some of us are willing to admit it, and others are not, but the truth is that we all need God’s help. That’s good news because God said this.

But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. – Jeremiah 17:7, NLT

We all need God’s daily help, but truly blessed are those who know it, seek Him, and trust Him for the victory.

In our lives, many of us are struggling with health issues, financial issues, relationship issues, family issues, and addictions that we try to live with. Yet somehow, we seem to think that if we stay busy, act normal, and don’t address our shortcomings, we can live through this.

We don’t realize that we could have achieved victory long ago if we would face the issue squarely and deal with it. Yes, sometimes we can’t do it alone. We need God and even human support to sort out our options and survive the recovery process.

It’s staggering when I look back at how many decades I squandered by ignoring critical shortcomings like relationship and financial issues. Today, I face new challenges, but the difference is that I know that I always have help. This is a promise from God!

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.

– Ephesians 1:3, NLT

Meditate on the above scripture for a moment. Christians thought that this scripture meant that all blessings were spiritual but not natural. No! Our blessings are spiritual, but through faith, we can access whatever we need in our natural life. God planned our lives before we were born. He said that all we must do is ask Him for those good things we need, and He will provide them. We never worry about how He will do it. We just trust Him.

I love Philippians 4:6 because God tells us how He answers prayer.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. – Philippians 4:6, NLT

Prayer is where we start.

Finally, to break those stubborn strongholds, I’ve learned that fasting is very effective. Here’s what Jesus said about gaining mastery.

[But this kind of demon does not go out except by prayer and fasting.] – Matthew 17:21, AMP

Every stronghold may not be a demon who is oppressing us, but many are. However, any unwanted force in our lives that is resisting change can be overcome.

Recently, a woman of God was telling me that she wanted to stop smoking. I mentioned fasting to her, and she said she had previously gone on a 3-day fast but relapsed.

I shared that fasting will break strongholds, but the secret is that we must keep fasting

We must continue our fasting, believing, acting in faith, and praying until the stronghold is broken.

Once, I fasted for one year for a financial breakthrough. Of course, it was not a water fast. It was a partial fast where I gave up treats only. Giving up sweets and rich foods was difficult for me. During this time, I focused on eating healthy.

Finally, the financial stronghold was broken, and God gave me a mighty deliverance. I received a miracle!

If you are facing any obstacle in your life, even procrastination, ask God for help. If the obstacle is stubborn, do a partial fast until you receive deliverance.

The Book of Esther – The Power of Obedience & Humility

Gail King - The Book of Esther

Revelation From The Book of Esther

  • The powerful duo of obedience (to God) and humility (before all) will save us, our family, and our nation. We see this in the lives of Esther, Moses, and King David.
  • Obedience toward God and walking humbly before God and man will overturn every enemy (great or small) that opposes God’s will for our lives.
  • God is present in every challenge (great and small) to manifest His presence, to fulfill His prophecies, and to fulfill His covenant promise to bless us.
  • One obedient woman (or man) can become the catalyst to save their family, community, and nation.
  • Pride, rebellion, offense, and negligence precede destruction and failure, while obedience, humility, and diligence precede great promotion and honor.

God has a large (bigger than life) enormous plan for our good. Each challenge that is encountered by the saved and unsaved leans toward God’s purpose for good. Vashti’s disrespect of her husband challenged King Xerxes but ultimately promoted all of God’s servants.

God plans that His presence and glory would be known far and wide by all, the saved and the unsaved. He achieves what no man can achieve that He may be seen, understood, and acknowledged by all humanity.

Each promotion (such as Esther’s elevation to queen) is a divine appointment and a divine placement.  Promotions fulfill the prophesies and covenant promises of God.

It is through obedience to the word of God and the fear of the Lord that the most incredible miracles are wrought in our lives. God seeks and promotes to honor anyone who will honor and obey Him as did King David.

The book of Esther demonstrates that women especially have an enormous role in the blessing and protection of His people.

It is through a woman’s fear of the Lord and submission to godly authority that she will come to reign. God has allowed women like Debra, a prophetess (Judges chapter 4), to lead rulers and entire armies to victory. God uses women like Jael (who killed the army general Sisera in Judges chapter 4) to singlehandedly slay dangerous leaders who threatened God’s people.

In the book of Esther, we find that Queen Vashti was arrogant and disobedient, and she fell from power. In contrast, Esther was humble and obedient. God caused Esther to replace Queen Vashti. Esther was honored, favored by everyone, and given all her heart’s desires.

Esther’s fear of the Lord, her obedience to godly authority, and her humility caused her entire family and nation to be saved and promoted! It is a great revelation to understand that God can utilize one obedient servant who honors Him above all else and use them as the catalyst to save a nation

God’s power is amplified through every obedient and humble servant.

As God did with Esther, He makes us fearless, even able to submit our own lives for the lives of our family and nation.

As we exalt God and obey His precepts as our daily lifestyle, it brings promotion, favor, honor, and protection to our family, community, culture, and nation. As we individually submit to the will of God for our lives each day, we can go from glory to glory.

God, Himself will faithfully remove every hindrance that opposes us!

It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.– Psalm 75:7, NLT

Why is Revenge Condemned By God?

In Romans 12:17, why does the Bible say, “Never pay back evil with more evil?”

Most of us know people who are consistently rude, mean, and evil. Some people are dangerous. These people are in our own families, and others work alongside us within the church.  How could God ask us to let injustice go uncorrected and unpunished? Dangerous people continue their assault against us. This seems unfair and inhumane. Thank goodness, the Bible addresses the issues of sin and injustice.

First, let’s consider that Jesus sacrificed His life for sinners and the very people who hated and, later killed Him. God’s real children are known because they are exactly like Jesus. God’s children have unconditional love because they have the heart of Christ (John 13:35). On the other hand, the children of Satan do his work as outlined in John 10:10, “Satan steals, kills and destroys.”

Finally, “Vengeance is mine says the Lord, I shall repay” (Romans 12:19, ESV).

Does God want us to be pushovers? No. Has God called us to allow people to abuse and kill us? No. Does God want us to be cowards and allow injustice to expand? No. In His Word (the Bible), God teaches us how to deal wisely in life. He trains us to avoid dangerous people and how to respond to every threat that we encounter. Each instance may require a different strategy. That is why God gave us His Word and His indwelling Holy Spirit to provide us with instant counsel.

The majority of the mayhem we experience in life could have been avoided altogether. For unavoidable catastrophes, God Himself can be depended upon to defend us and restore us according to His divine wisdom and timing. We see this in the book of Job.

Finally, God may not tell us the day and hour of another’s death. Nor do we understand all of the ramifications that led up to an untimely death. Our relationship with God is at the heart of our lives. Therefore, Jesus admonished us to live godly lives and, thus, always “be ready” to leave the earth and face God. Study the insightful parable of the Rich Fool (Luke 12: 16-21).

If we don’t know God through His Word and we haven’t received His Holy Spirit through the salvation experience, here are reasons why we may be prone to take revenge into our hands.

  1. In adversity, we won’t consider God’s Word because we may not know His Word.
  2. If we are unsaved, we don’t have the Spirit of God to help restrain us from evil or to guide us.
  3. Without the supernatural love of God operating in our lives, it is totally impossible to love others as Christ would.

The act of revenge is a human response. However, God’s love is full of mercy and forgiveness, which is a supernatural response. God’s love (operating in our hearts) can only be extended by those who know God.

“Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love (1 John 4:8, NIV).

If we study King David’s life, we see that he was ruthlessly and unjustly hated and attacked by King Saul (1 Samuel 16-31).  However, David knew God intimately. David loved the Lord with all this heart. He knew God’s laws and commands. When David had the opportunity to avenge himself and to kill Saul, he did not do it!  David kept saying to himself, to his followers, and even to Saul, “I will not take my own revenge; the LORD will avenge me.” David was not perfect, but in this instance, he chose to die (at the hand of Saul) rather than disobey God. This required supernatural faith, courage, and patience. David embodied these qualities because he was submitted to the Spirit of God. In time, God did avenge him.  The Lord rewarded David with vast riches, power, honor, and an everlasting dynasty that included the bloodline to the Messiah.

Our knowing God as David did through Bible study and through our submission to God’s Holy Spirit is so important!  This allows us to exercise Christ’s supernatural love, wisdom, and patience.  Revenge will never be as sweet as the experience of knowing God intimately and living within His loving protection each day.

7 Strategies to Keep Your Peace

As believers, peace is our right. Why do we fight so hard to maintain it? Here are seven suggestions that will allow us to grab our peace and hold onto it!

Jesus Gave Every Believer Peace
I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid (John 14:27, NLT).

We Can Experience A Supernatural Peace
Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with a peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel (Philippians 4:7, CEV).

God Told Us How To Maintain Our Peace
You [God] will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! (Isaiah 26:3, NLT).

Last year, I had a health challenge that was brought on from overwork and stress. I didn’t realize that I was allowing other people’s problems and my own anxiety to undermine my health. Thank God for Jesus! As I lay in my bed, meditating on Jesus, He told me quite plainly, “You must stop worrying.” Then He told me the top two things that I was worried about, which had undermined my health.

I began to study the Word of God on worry and anxiety, and discovered that worry is a sin because it is a sign that –
1) We have stopped trusting in God and we have abandoned our faith.
2) We have stopped listening to God. God always directs our steps and provides for us if He can get our attention.
3) We are worried because we are trusting in ourselves or in other humans.

Here’s What God Said To Do Instead Of Worrying
Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God (Philippians 4:6, CEV).

Cast all your anxiety on him [the Lord] because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:9, NIV).

Right now, millions of people are home alone, isolated, and suffering from anxiety. The news on television is filled with adverse fearful reports regarding the world health outlook, politics, and the economy. Thousands have lost loved ones to death or are battling to regain their health. The world is experiencing a severe crisis. None the less, God has given us a way to restore and to maintain our peace and our sanity.

Here are seven (7) practical suggestions that I shared with a close friend recently, to regain our peace of mind and to maintain it.

1) STAND ON THE WORD – Isaiah 26:3 above promises us peace if we will keep our minds fixed on God.  Fixed is the key word! Memorize this scripture. Meditate on this scripture. If you are tempted with anxiety, repeat Isaiah 26:3 in your mind during the day. Say to yourself, “My mind is fixed on Jesus and I have perfect peace!” Do it. Trust me, when you say this in faith, it resets your thinking process. Make standing on God’s Word a way of life.

2) BOMBARD YOUR BRAIN WITH TRUTH – The enemy (Satan) gets into our heads because there is space. If there is no room for him, he can’t get in. Leave no place for the devil! Bombard your brain with the Word of God 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. How do we do this?

I do it by leveraging technology. From the time I wake up until the time I go to sleep, I’m listening to the Bible (on audio) or a Christian book (on audio) or a sermon (on audio). For even more joy, include praise and worship music. Learn to use Kindle Books, Audible Books, and YouTube on your cellular phone. It’s easy, even for seniors. If you have a low-cost kindle device, it will read Christian books and Bibles to you! Wake up listening to the Bible, fall asleep listening to the Bible. Also, all this content is free on YouTube, up to 8 hours of scriptures on peace, playing non-stop!

Of course, I work for a living. If I’m working at my desk or talking on the phone, I pause listening to the Bible. But when that work is done, I return to the Word of God.  Or if I’m working on a business task that is repetitive (like data entry), I listen to the Bible while I’m working.

If you do this, your faith will soar!  This gives the devil has ZERO opportunity to torment us with fear, doubt, and worry.

3) REACH OUT REGULARLY & BECOME AN ENCOURAGER – One way I stay encouraged is by encouraging others. Make a list of family and other believers that you can encourage on a weekly basis. Refuse to be isolated and alone. As believers, we should be the ones to pick up the phone or to text scriptures of encouragement. Post encouraging scriptures (or quotes) to your Facebook and Twitter pages. God gives us (in abundance) what we share with others.

4) REFUSE ALL NEGATIVITY – This is essential! Severely limit or cut off altogether (all forms of) unbelief and negativity. Include every TV program (including news shows) and people that thrive on backbiting, gossiping, and spreading bad news. It seems innocent, but this is poison.

Catch up with the global news by reading the headlines for a couple of minutes on your cell phone or by using a free news app on your cell phone. Avoid watching hours of bad news on TV!

We can love people and pray for them without listening to their unbelief on a regular basis. The Bible tells us to guard our hearts (Proverbs 4:23) and to leave unbelievers alone (Luke 9:5). If unbelievers live within our home, we must not get lured into arguments with them – we must pray for them. We overcome evil by doing good (Romans 12:21).

5) WE MUSTN’T NEGLECT CHURCH SERVICE – Weekly church service, small Bible study groups, Christian courses, and spiritual guidance counselors are vital to maintaining our joy. We must humbly admit that all of us need comfort, God’s guidance, and the love of other believers.

Learn from my bad experience. Once I was so discouraged, I stopped going to church for a while. During this time, my attitude worsened, my faith declined, and things got worse. When I returned to church, I realized how utterly stupid I’d been! There is a reason God created the Body of Christ which is His church. We need our faith boosted weekly and we need to connect with others who are experiencing similar challenges. The Bible says a triple-braided cord is not easily broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Satan loves to isolate believers, so he can do more damage. Don’t fall for this. The Holy Spirit already has a church or Bible study group for you.

6) MAINTAIN AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE – Years ago, the Lord told me to go on a joy fast. Just recently, I’ve reinstituted this practice in my life. Joy is no accident. We’ve got to be very intentional about thanking God all day for His blessings. If we neglect to count our blessings, we will end up counting our misfortunes. The Word of God reveals a secret to joy, happiness, and peace. It says God gave us the garment of praise to overcome the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:3). This is a supernatural truth for those who employ it.

7) GO TO BE EARLY – Exhaustion robs us of energy and creativity. The Bible says, “God gives His children rest” (Psalms 127:2). When I’m feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, I know that I’m not using my faith and I may be sinning by abusing my body with worry and overwork. Jesus said, “Come to me all who are weary, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28-30).

God is not stressing us out or overworking us. We do this on our own. The Lord wants to provide for us, but we struggle to trust Him. Shut off the cell phone, close your laptop, and get a peaceful night’s sleep.

Fall Asleep Fast – Here’s How
Having trouble sleeping? God told me to do this, and it is an absolute miracle. I fall asleep in what seems like seconds. First, make sure your heart is sincere. This is not a gimmick. Here’s how to quickly and naturally drift into a peaceful sleep. Begin to think about all the amazing things God has done for you throughout your lifetime. Try to think of your most crucial blessing first, then put your blessings in order in your mind. Think deeply about the far-reaching ramifications of each benefit. Meditate on what a miracle it is to be so blessed and on how much God loves you as an individual. Don’t allow your mind to drift back to your problems. As you thank God, meditating on and counting your blessings, you will drift into a peaceful sleep.

In a nutshell, my dear brothers and sisters, the benefits of peace are freely ours.  We must be willing to tap into the mind of God through His Word and cut off the enemy’s entry (into our minds).

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise (Philippians 4:8, NLT).

Is Food Making You Sick?

Is your food making you sick? No, it isn’t. Let me explain. Jesus told us plainly that food is not the problem!

“Don’t you understand either?” he asked. “Can’t you see that the food you put into your body cannot defile you? Food doesn’t go into your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.” (By saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in God’s eyes).

And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you” (Mark 7:18-23).

As medical science spends billions of dollars to discover the origin of sickness, food has become a convenient scapegoat. We blame our international food chain, our production facilities, and our diets for many of our common illnesses. We have outlawed salt, sugar, saturated fat, sweets, starches, fast food, restaurant food, and practically everything that tastes good.

In some cases, we may have abused food, but it has not abused us!

I have been guilty of reading every book and magazine I could get my hands on healthy eating. I used to live by these rules. However, as I meditated on the Word of God, I realized that when the Lord said, “Nothing can harm you,” He meant it.

The Word of God Is Truth

  1. God said if we serve Him, He would bless all our food and water and give us a long lifespan (Exodus 23:25-26).
  2. Our food is consecrated by the Word of God and prayer (1 Timothy 4:4-5).
  3. Food cannot defile us, and all food (including meats) are clean (Mark 7:18-19).
  4. Food does not make us holy or unholy (1 Corinthians 8:8).
  5. No sickness or evil can approach us or come near our dwelling (Psalm 91:10). Even drinking poison will not harm a faith-filled believer (Mark 16:18).
  6. We are never to judge or criticize each other’s food, food habits, or dietary beliefs (Romans 14-3; Colossians 2:16).
  7. We must never encourage someone to eat something they believe will harm them or is bad for them. Proceeding without faith (that what we do is acceptable before God) is sin (Romans 14:23).
  8. Everything we do (including mealtimes) must be done in good conscience and to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). As an example, Daniel did a partial fast (Daniel 10-3).
  9. Jesus thanked God for food (Mark 8:6-7), and He blessed the food (Mark 14:9). Notice in most cases, He blessed the food Himself, He did not ask God to bless it. If we are saved, our food is already blessed, but Jesus always thanked God for the food. Perhaps we should say, “Father, I thank you for this food and bless it in agreement with your Word.”
  10. The prophet Isaiah said, “By His (Jesus) stripes we were healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

Jesus Thanked God & He Blessed the Food

So Jesus told all the people to sit down on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves, thanked God for them, and broke them into pieces. He gave them to his disciples, who distributed the bread to the crowd. A few small fish were found, too, so Jesus also blessed these and told the disciples to distribute them. – Mark 8:6-7, NLT

What Is The Real Challenge?
What is profound about scripture is that God has promised us that if we trust in the finished work of Christ and walk in His ways, we won’t get sick in the first place! By His stripes, we were healed (Isaiah 53:5).

“So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you (Exodus 23:25, NKJV). This fulfilled the Word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases (Matthew 8:17, NLT).”

God said we are already healed. Furthermore, He promised to bless our meals and take sickness away from us. Why aren’t we walking in these promises?  Why don’t we believe it?  Why are we saying our food (which God has blessed and approved) is making us sick?  This is contrary to the Word of God!

Of course, we must exercise prudence and moderation in what we eat. There are no hard and fast rules that dictate what is best for everyone

Therefore, it is totally unscriptural to tell everyone that one particular food is not suitable for them or to speak word curses over another’s meal. God has made each of our bodies differently.

So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths (Colossians 2:16, NLT).

The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is our Counselor (John 14:26). If we listen and obey, the Holy Spirit will show each of us the foods that are most ideal for our own body. One respected man of God said that the Holy Spirit prompted him to avoid coffee, but that was a personal message that the Lord gave him. Many of us already know how to adjust our diets to our own body chemistry.

Yes, we should use discernment concerning what we hear about foods. If I heard that a shipment of food left a factory tainted, I would not eat it, just to test God. If the Holy Spirit confirms that a particular food is not ideal for my body, would I be blessed if I eat it in defiance?

However, it’s important to note that when it comes to food we consider healthy, we should thank God for everything we eat and come into an agreement (with God) that all our food (and even our medicine) is blessed.

God wants us to acknowledge Him (through thanksgiving) pronounce His blessing over all foods so that we can enjoy it and digest it without challenges.

Here’s what is truly making and keeping us sick

  • God said we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), we but continue to complain that we are sick.
  • God said our food and water are blessed and clean, but we have been saying it’s making us sick. The Word says that we can have what we say (Mark 11:23). We are verbally cursing our food and living what we are saying!
  • The Word says if something is not done in faith, it’s a sin. We are eating and drinking foods and beverages that we genuinely believe are harming our bodies. Actually, we should only eat what we believe is healthy or examine and change what we think.
  • God said, don’t criticize each other’s food, but we have given lectures and made movies concerning what everyone should avoid. Some of these lectures, films, and books are filled with fear. God did not give us a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7). We are speaking word curses over our own foods. Then we go ahead and eat the very foods we cursed!
  • God said it’s acceptable to eat meat, but we are told (and many believe) that no one should eat meat. If we believe we can eat meat, God said that we can. However, if we believe that we shouldn’t eat meat, then we shouldn’t because we would be violating our conscious, which is sin. The Holy Spirit may lead some of us to abstain because everyone’s body (and their walk with God) is unique.
  • Jesus thanked God for food, and He blessed it. We are asking God to bless food He already blessed, or worse eating without ever thanking God for His blessing.
  • It is not what we put IN our mouth that defiles us, it is what comes out of our mouth (the unbelief and word curses we speak) that is polluting us and making us sick (Mark 7:18-23).
  • Yes, gluttony is a sin. Therefore, it’s the sin, not the food that can open a door for sickness to enter.

I used to be the food police. I would advise people regarding what they should and should not eat. I repent of this! Even today, I must restrain myself from spewing out my old word curses on certain foods. I had so many food taboos that I began to look at all food with suspicion. I’ve stopped. It’s not scriptural. This is a trick of the enemy!

Recently I said to my son, “We must stop speaking evil over our food. We must stop repeating that certain foods are bad for us. Think about it, we are cursing our foods – then eating them. The Word says to bless our food, not curse it!  We’ve got to stop saying this or that is bad for us. Saying a food is bad for me sounds helpful, but actually, it’s contrary to the Word of God. Furthermore, if I believe it’s bad for me, I must never put it in my mouth!”

What really causes sickness? Unbelief in God’s Word and not acting on His Word. God is telling us to believe His Word (Isaiah 53:4-5) and his main commandment to walk in love with everyone. We have allowed the world to take us on a wild goose chase. We are blaming foods when (as believers) God said we should never be sick in the first place

Like everyone else, I often hang on my refrigerator door looking for a treat to cheer myself up. I sometimes forget that the Holy Spirit is my Comforter (John 14:16) not a sandwich!  In my lifetime, I’ve been every size from two to eighteen. Looking back, I realize that food was not the cause of that eating disorder. I was suffering from trauma and anxiety. I thought I needed more food when I actually needed more faith in God.

What about overeating? Overeating is complicated because when we overeat, it’s often a result of past trauma, present worry, exhaustion, and stress. Food is not to blame. If we would cast our cares (past and present) on Jesus (1 Peter 5:7) and do not worry (Matthew 6:25-34) as God commanded, we would no longer require outside stimuli for comfort.

The Bible says our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). I agree that it is a sin to abuse our bodies with foods or any other substance. We must be directed by the Holy Spirit and use prudence regarding which foods and portion sizes are healthiest for our frame.

The Apostle Paul gave the church of Corinth a great word concerning Holy Communion and how Christian dinners are to be conducted. He said, “Let a man examine himself, for he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body (1 Corinthians 11:27-30). Of course, he was speaking of taking Holy Communion in an unworthy manner. However, there is a worthy and unworthy manner to partake of all food.

The Bible confirms that sickness originated from man’s sin, is a curse, and can involve demonic oppression (Genesis 3; Acts 10:38). When disease strikes our bodies, we should examine ourselvesWe should ask God outright, “Lord, why am I sick? What must I do differently?”

God is “The Lord That Heals” (Exodus 15:26). Our food is not making us sick. If we are believers who serve the Lord, He has already blessed all our food and water.

No, I am not saying we should eat everything the Holy Spirit, our doctor, and our stomachs have told us to avoid. I am saying we must discern (think about and pray about) what (and how much) we eat.

7 Tips To Stay Well

  1. We must meditate on the Word of God concerning divine healing and have steadfast faith in the Word of God.
  2. We must see ourselves well.
  3. We must speak wellness over ourselves by speaking the Word of God and His healing scriptures.
  4. We must always thank God for our food and bless it before we eat it.
  5. We must act in faith by eating only those things that we have the confidence to eat. We should eliminate foods and portion sizes that the Holy Spirit has prompted us to avoid.
  6. We must pray for guidance. We cannot blindly accept any word curse or fear tactic that is spoken over foods by the media, professionals, or well-meaning others. In fact, we should “cancel” any negative unbelieving word spoken over our food by anyone.
  7. We must honor our bodies through temperance because we are God’s Temple. Our Father would not have us do anything to destroy or defile His temple. We are not our own (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, NIV), we were purchased with the precious blood of Christ.

We can walk in divine health and enjoy a wide array of foods and beverages. Let’s honor our bodily temple by making prudent decisions and, most importantly, standing on the Word of God.

The promises of God are our armor and protection (Psalm 91:4).

What Caused Your Illness?

Anytime a believer is stricken with any disease, we must demand to know, “What caused this disease?” Medical science may not know the answer, but God does know, and He is eager to tell us!

As birds and sparrows fly, so a curse shall not come upon anyone without a cause. – Proverb 26:2, Brenton Septuagint Translation

Today, anyone who has given her life to Jesus Christ and is saved can boldly believe God for the ability to walk in divine health. It doesn’t matter how long we’ve been sick or how old we are. This teaching predominantly deals with long-term chronic illnesses but may be helpful in the healing of shorter less severe ailments.

If we are not free of all sickness, we must go directly to the throne of God and boldly ask, “Father, I know you love me. Why are sickness, disease, and pain ravaging my body? What caused this illness to manifest itself, and how is it lingering?”

In my own life, I’ve been attacked by sickness many times. Before I gave my life to Jesus, I was utterly dependent on medicines and didn’t know that I could be healed entirely outside of conventional wisdom.

Later, God showed me that He can change medical reports and diagnosis. He can replace body parts, and He can stop the pain. He can remove tumors, He easily removes all forms of arthritis, He heals blood pressure, and He removes anxiety. The truth is that God can change any diagnosis and completely cure any disease.

The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly. – Psalm 146:8, NLT

God is not mad at us. Many of us have not been taught about divine healing. The Bible tells us that God’s mercy endures forever. Whatever state we are in, God continues to love us unconditionally.  Additionally, I am not opposed to taking medicine or getting medical assistance. I would not feel condemned if I took an aspirin and I have very fine medical professionals that I respect.

Never blame anyone concerning their behavior if they are sick. The truth is that none of us understands why innocent people die young. Unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to us, we don’t fully understand the supernatural ramifications of someone else’s suffering. Below, I humbly share how God dealt with me. I pray it will bless you.

After I began to study the Bible, I uncovered vital facts that are foundational to divine healing. Below are three.

1) Sickness is a curse that entered the world through man’s sin. See the Fall of Man outlined in Genesis chapter three. See the curse of sickness described in Deuteronomy chapter twenty-eight).
2) Throughout the Bible, God seeks to heal and completely restore His people. He granted healing to those who turn back to Him and believe upon our Savior (Jesus). See Jeremiah 8:21-22 and Isaiah 53:4-5.
3) Faith in Jesus Christ and in The Word of God will heal our mortal bodies. It does not matter what our illness is, how old we are, or how long we’ve lived with the condition. God can heal us.He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” – Mark 5:34, NIV

What Caused Your Illness?
Here’s Where I Completely Missed It!

For years Satan tried to deceive me into believing that some sicknesses cannot be diagnosed.  In fact, several respected doctors stated, “We don’t know the specific cause of your illness. It runs in your family, it is hereditary.”

Non-the-less, as a believer, I knew that God has answers that are unknown to mere men.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. – James 1:5, NIV

I went from doctor to doctor. They took excellent care of me. They were able to run tests and prescribe medications to suppress pain, discomfort, and symptoms. The doctors did their best but honestly admitted that medical science did not know the cause of many illnesses and could not cure them.

Not to be deterred, I searched the internet and read many medical articles on the cause of illnesses. I visited acupuncturists and Traditional Chinese medicine doctors. None of this cured me – I kept going back for more medicine, and many of the drugs caused terrible side effects.

My challenge was that I wasn’t really seeking God (wholeheartedly) I was begging men to cure me – and they could not.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. – Jeremiah 29:13, NIV

Medical science is terrific, and we have made great strides. I love my doctors, and God used them to help save my life. However, medical science cannot cure a common cold and could never tell us exactly when, where, and how we caught it.

Despite all of this, God always knows when, where, why, and how we contracted any disease. Not only does He see why we got it, but He is also eager to remove what is causing the illness, and He wants to completely cure us!

I thank God that His precious Holy Spirit drove me to a place of total dissatisfaction with settling for less than God’s best.

One day, I said to my son, “I’m not living God’s best, and I’m not satisfied with where I am. I want God’s best. God’s best is for me is to walk in divine health. God’s best is for me to be debt-free. God’s best is for me to have peace and rest in my life. I’m not satisfied living beneath what God promised me! It’s not God’s fault that I’m missing it. It’s my fault. I must go to a higher spiritual level.”

One man of God noted that while man heals through the body, God heals through the spirit. This is the reason why we must ask God, “What caused my illness?” Failure to uncover the root cause of illness explains why man’s wisdom cannot always cure us.

The Bible says a man who trusts in the flesh is cursed (Jeremiah 17:5).

This is what the LORD says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the LORD. – Jeremiah 17:5, NIV

However, if you dare to listen to God every day and stretch your faith to believe Him for miracles, religious people may think you are out of your mind!

When Jesus said, “You must eat my body and drink my blood,” many of His disciples walked away (John 6:54-66).

In short, when I turned my faith steadfastly back to the Word of God and began to exalt God’s Word over my own wisdom and the wisdom of men, I was healed.

The Sins That Kept Me Bound to Sickness

Turning away from God to trust in my own intellect and the wisdom of man was idolatry. Some of the sins that opened a door for the curse of sickness to enter my life included fear, doubt, worry, and anxiety. Additionally, was the sin of abusing my body through overwork and eating foods that didn’t bless me. The worst may have been trusting in medicine in place of believing God for a complete cure.

Taking medicine may be necessary for a while to relieve pain and to help us get some much-needed rest. However, after taking drugs for four years, I could no longer kid myself. I was totally relying on medicine instead of believing God for a complete cure.

Some of us are handicapped because we have been taught that miracles no longer exist. However, nothing is impossible with God. Additionally, the Word of God tells us that God has no favorites (Acts 10:34). He will grant a miracle for us as assuredly as He performed them for Jesus and His apostles.

“For nothing is impossible with God.” – Luke 1:37, NLT

Why did I settle? Why did I live with sickness, fear, pain and medicine side effects for four years? In retrospect, I confess that at first, I was too naïve to confront the fact that medical science had not cured me.

Are We Calling God A Liar?

I didn’t know that I was inadvertently calling God a liar by believing the words of men over His Word (1 John 5:10). God told us plainly that the wounds of Christ purchased our healing (Isaiah 53:54-55).

If we refuse to believe God for healing, are we rejecting our salvation, which includes healing? Are we calling a God a liar when we suffer on blatantly ignoring the fact that Christ died for our complete healing?

Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. – 1 John 5:10, NIV (bold added)

God could not heal me until I humbled myself before Him. He could not cure me until I repented of the idolatry of putting my faith in myself, professionals, medicines, and other natural cures.

While God did mind me using these things, I began to rely on them. We are taught to do this, but that does not mean it is morally right or that it is God’s best for us.

“You shall have no other gods before me.” – Exodus 20:3, NIV

In the Old Testament, men worshiped idols made of wood. In the twentieth century, our idols have become money, people, social media, our possessions, and our own intellect.

Finally, I could not get well until I stopped being lazy and avoiding the spiritual work required. I needed to stretch my faith and make the Word of God first in my life.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. – Matthew 6:33, NLT

Repeating the Word of God aloud will never heal us until we begin to believe the Word, act on the Word, and practice the Word in everyday life. This is the way we remain in divine health.

“Lord, Tell Me Plainly, What Caused This Illness?”

The disciples asked Jesus that very question.

Jesus’ disciples asked, “Teacher, why was this man born blind? Was it because he or his parents sinned?” – John 9:2, CEV

In His response, Jesus admitted that it was not this man’s own sin or the sin of his parents that caused his blindness. He remained blind until God’s miracle of healing manifested in him. This miracle of healing brought glory to God.

In contrast, in two other Biblical instances, we see that a person’s own sin was highlighted by Jesus during their healing.

But afterward, Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.” – John 5:14, NLT

Some people brought to him a paralyzed man on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “Be encouraged, my child! Your sins are forgiven.” Is it easier to say ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up and walk’? So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” – Matthew 9:2; 9:5-6, NLT

Many of us are innocently leaving a door open in our lives for Satan and the curse of sickness to enter. Since the Word of God can bring a complete cure, that door may be related to our diminished reliance on God.

“But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first! – Revelation 2:4, NLT

Often preachers, teachers, and saints of God live with sickness without ever asking God, “Lord, what caused this illness?”

Unfortunately, many of us have been taught the lie that, “Sickness brings glory to God.” The opposite is the truth. As we see from the blind man in John chapter nine, it was not His blindness that brought new converts to God; it was his miraculous healing that caused a stir and brought converts to God. The man’s healing brought glory to God, not his blindness!

Uncover the Root of Every Illness & Be Healed!

Here are a few tips that will help you to find out what caused your illness and how to receive divine healing. Every person is different, and every sickness may manifest in different ways.

Here are six suggestions that help us to walk in divine healing.

1) Prayer – Go boldly to the throne of God and ask Him plainly, “Lord what caused this illness to come upon my body?”
2) Listening Intently to God – Be still. Be quiet. Allow the Holy Spirit of God to tell you plainly what caused your illness. He will tell you!
3) Journaling – Write down what God tells you or puts into your heart.
4) Repenting – Repent of the idolatry of exalting the wisdom of men over the knowledge of God. Repent of any known or unconfessed sin in your life. Repent of any unforgiveness or resentment that may be lingering in your heart against anyone alive or dead. Repent of allowing fear, doubt, unbelief, and worry to erase your faith in God. Repent of being too apathetic or lazy to study or even believe God’s healing Word. Repent of choosing to follow man instead of steadfastly cleaving to and obeying God.
5) Asking God Outright – The Word of God tells us to keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking (Matthew 7:7). Be confident in God’s love, ability, and goodness. Ask Him to completely cure you. Stand on His healing promises (1 Peter 2:24).“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” – 1 Peter 2:24, NIV
6) Obedience – When we turn our whole heart back to God, we begin to see healing miracles! However, God will tell us to do things that seem unconventional or that require courage. We must be willing to obey God.

Don’t follow convention, follow God!

Do you think people who talk to God often, pray in tongues and expect miracles today have a special gift or are crazy? Reread the book of Acts. These gifts were given freely to Christ’s followers. As you know, thousands of believers today continue to follow the early church exactly as it is outlined in the book of Acts.

The Bible admonishes us to seek the higher gifts of God.

But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way. – 1 Corinthians 12:31, ESV

If we are suffering from any disease, God is standing by to tell us plainly what caused it and, most importantly, how to get rid of it. All the Lord wants from us is faith that is evident through action.

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7, NIV

How God Miraculously Provides

God is so faithful! As scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame (Romans 10:11, NIV). Do you have a need? Rest assured that nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37, NLT).  Let’s examine three (3) supernatural means that God utilizes to provide for us during challenging times.

God shows up to provide for His people. In fact, He often utilizes a wealth transfer, a miraculous transformation or multiplication

In my own life, there have been many, many instances of God using a wealth transfer to meet my needs.  How many times have you cried out to God for assistance and miraculously someone called, showed up or gave you exactly what you prayed for!

A WEALTH TRANSFER – One of God’s primary means of providing for us is through a wealth transfer. If you recall, when the Nation of Israel was released from slavery, God instructed them to ask their Egyptian neighbors for clothes and gold. God does not allow his children to leave empty-handed.

Now the children of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, and they had asked from the Egyptians articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing. And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus they plundered the Egyptians. – Exodus 12:35-36, NKJV

A TRANSFORMATION – A second means that God uses to provide is through transformation. During the wedding at Cana, Jesus turned water into wine.

The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.”

“Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.”
But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.”

When the jars had been filled, he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions.

When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!” John 2:3-10, NLT

THROUGH MULTIPLICATION – Finally, God often provides through multiplication. Jesus multiplied five loaves of bread and two fish to feed over 5,000 people!

“Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes. (The men alone numbered about 5,000.) Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted. After everyone was full, Jesus told his disciples, “Now gather the leftovers, so that nothing is wasted.” So they picked up the pieces and filled twelve baskets with scraps left by the people who had eaten from the five barley loaves. When the people saw him do this miraculous sign, they exclaimed, “Surely, he is the Prophet we have been expecting!” – John 6:10-14, NLT

What is our part? How can we have faith that His provision is ours?

1)    If we’ve repented of our sins and given our lives to Jesus, we are children of God, heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17, NIV).

2)    Jesus told us, “You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it so that the Son can bring glory to the Father (John 14:13, NLT).

3)    When we have not broken fellowship with God through unconfessed sin, we come boldly before the throne of God to seek help. Even in the presence of sin, God’s mercy endures forever (Psalm 136:1, EHV). We must never feel condemned; instead, we run to God, trusting in His love and compassion for forgiveness and deliverance.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. – 1 John 1:9, NIV

God responds to us just as Boaz responded to Ruth’s request that he provide for her by exercising his rights as her family redeemer. Her mother in law was confident of Boaz’s integrity as she assured Ruth.

Naomi replied, “Just be patient and don’t worry about what will happen. He won’t rest until everything is settled today!”  – Ruth 3:18, CEV

We must heed the advice that Naomi gave Ruth. We must be patient and not worry about what will happen! The prayers of the righteous are powerful (James 5:16). When God hears faith-filled prayer from one of His children, He won’t rest until He settles the matter, even the same day!

Obviously, our Lord has innumerable ways to comfort, rescue, and provide for us.

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. – Isaiah 55:9, NLT

Let’s try to think “out of the box” and leave God room to answer our prayers in His timing and in His way. Our requests are safe in His hands. We can relax.

Do Not Tolerate Sickness!

The Word of God tells us plainly that believers are redeemed (set free) from the curse of sickness!  Why then are millions of us sick? Why have we been ill for years, why have we endured operations, why have we become addicted to drugs to get through the day?  Why aren’t the Promises of God working for us?

The Lord led me to investigate why we claim to be “filled with the Holy Spirit” of God, but we live like mere men, completely powerless. Saints, there is something wrong with that! How on earth can we be “filled with Holy Spirit” and suffering just like the world? Where is the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives?  How have we disabled the force of God in our lives, in our bodies, and our circumstances?

The LORD said this, “I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you” (Luke 10:19, NLT).

We are God’s disciples and apostles. The Bible says, “Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness” (Matthew 10:1).  It is not as widespread as it should be, but churches all over the world have ordinary pastors, men, and women who are healing the sick, just as Christ’s first disciples and apostles did.

Christ healed the sick, and his followers healed the sick.  We are carrying on Christ’s mandate. Why should any of us tolerate sickness in her body?

God said, “My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me. Since you priests refuse to know me, I refuse to recognize you as my priests. Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children (Hosea 4:6, NLT).  Also translated, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6, NLT).

When I got saved, I asked God, “Why are so many people in the church sick?” He said, “They don’t know Me.” He was telling me that most of us know of Him as our Savior, but we don’t know Him as our Healer!

If you reread Hosea 4:6 above, God is saying His priests (pastors and teachers) don’t know Him!  Yes, we are holy, yes, we read the Bible, and yes, we teach the Bible. But does that mean that we knowJehovah-Rapha (The God Who Heals)? No, it doesn’t.

What specific knowledge of God is lacking?  Why are we allowing sickness, disease, and premature death to run rampant in our churches?

For the past four years, I have been asking God to help me understand this dilemma.  I will use my struggle and my failings to share with you how the Holy Spirit began to answer these questions for me and how he healed me.

I asked God outright, “Why am I sick?” I knew the natural reasons such as family history, diet, and overwork, but I wanted to know the spiritual reason.  The spiritual reason for sickness is the root of the problem. His response was quick. He said, “You are deceived.” I understood that to mean that I had allowed the lies of Satan to dominate (stamp out) the Word of God in my heart.

Satan has convinced many of us that –

1) There is nothing we can do about chronic illness.
2) We’ve done our best, but we’re just stuck with this condition.
3) That we (personally) are not holy enough to receive divine healing or a miracle.
4) Divine healing is too difficult to understand, so there’s no use trying.

The truth is –
1) To be cured, there is more we can do.
2) We haven’t always done our best to defeat our illnesses.
3) We are not all destined to die sick! We can peacefully go to sleep and wake up in the glorious presence of Jesus. Some people die in their sleep without ever suffering illness.
4) Divine healing isn’t mysterious, it’s as simple as steadfastly using and acting on our faith.

A man of God told a story about a wonderful Christian woman who was very old and very sick. The woman was genuinely suffering. An anointed man of God came to her home to pray for her to receive divine healing.

However, the woman was tired.  She told him, “I’m ready to go. I don’t want to live.”

Knowing her family was worried, the man of God said, “Will you allow Jesus to heal you right now so that He will get glory from your life? Then if you want to, you can go to sleep and leave (let go and die). What do you think?” She replied, “OK.” After he prayed, she received her healing. Her family was delighted.  They praised God that she was relieved of her suffering. A short time afterward, she said goodbye to the family and died peacefully instead of dying in agony.

The moral of this story is this. We don’t have to suffer for years and die sick.  We can walk in divine health with joy and energy as we serve God’s people. Then, when we are ready, we can peacefully transition. S

ATAN CANNOT SNATCH OUR HEALTH AND OUR LIFE! The devil was defeated at Calvary; he no longer has any power unless we (innocently) relinquish our control.  Jesus has the power, not Satan, not sickness, and not death.  The Lord Jesus has given us power to overcome the devil and disease to us (Luke 10:19).

Why are Christians dying suddenly and in agony? In truth, every man has his own account with God. We don’t know why people died suddenly or why our prayers sometimes fail. Jesus healed all who came to him, but he didn’t heal in areas steeped in unbelief.

The Holy Spirit, the Bible, and respected Christian books cite twenty or more common reasons why Christians no longer walk in divine healing. Some of the major reasons people manifest lingering sickness include unbelief, unforgiveness and idolatry. Many people are in unbelief concerning the miracles of Christ because they have not heard this message preached.

In this brief writing, I will deal with obstacles that blocked my healing for four years.

One main reason that mature believers and Christian leaders are suffering debilitating illnesses is that we’ve embraced lies that directly contradict the Word of God. This is idolatry. Unfortunately, in the Christian community, it has become socially acceptable to believe these lies and to defend them!

The Bible says, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).  When I was sick, I asked myself and I asked God, “What is the truth that I need to know to be set free of this sickness?” I didn’t care if my medical advisors didn’t know the answer.  Jesus Christ is The Great Physician (Luke 4:23), and He knew the answer!

I believe in miracles. What about you?

My Story

As mentioned above, just recently, I suffered from a chronic illness that lasted for four years. I went to many doctors and tried many treatments. Like the woman in Luke chapter eight, I often grew worse

In spite of this, I love my doctors. God has used them to save my life. For a time, they helped me to manage illnesses that they could not cure.  God has anointed doctors and partnered with them to comfort us and to heal some conditions.

However, there are conditions that medical science cannot cure.  Many of us will only be healed if we humble ourselves and diligently seek the power of Almighty God.

The disciples of Jesus were not able to heal a boy because they could not cast out the demon that troubled the child.

Afterward the disciples asked Jesus privately, “Why couldn’t we cast out that demon?” (Matthew 17:19, NLT). So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:10, NKJV).

Even today, Jesus can heal any hopeless case.  He cures the lame, He replaces limbs, and He restores both sight and hearing. He has not changed. Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8, NIV).

A vast crowd brought to him people who were lame, blind, crippled, those who couldn’t speak, and many others. They laid them before Jesus, and he healed them all (Matthew 15:30, NLT).

I was healed. It was the Holy Spirit who healed me. My Father God started the process by telling me that deception was the root of my illness. In other words, I needed the spiritual truth to set me free (John 8:32). Step by step, the Holy Spirit guided my progressive healing. Without Holy Spirit guidance and revelation knowledge, I would never have known what to do.

As long as I relied on my own intellect, I remained ill. As long as I did what I thought was prudent, I remained ill.  I was trapped – until I turned my whole heart to Jesus Christ and the Word of God.

My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine” (Isaiah 55:8, NLT).

However, divine healing is a spiritual process that defies the senses, it challenges the reasoning mind, it defies logic, and it defies the wisdom of men. Divine healing overshadows every false idol that sought to exalt itself over the knowledge of God in our lives.

While I was sick, I said I believed God’s healing promises, but if I had believed, understood, and acted on them, I would have been healed.

Here’s why I struggled with sickness for four long years.

1) UNBELIEF – I was reciting healing scriptures (mentally accenting) without truly believing it would work for me.
2) I COULD NOT SEE – I made no effort to see ( or visualize) myself healthy and well.  After being hospitalized and rushed to the ER many times, I saw myself ill instead of seeing myself well.  I accepted the illness, and I was tolerating it. I had consented to live with it. I believed in the power of the illness more than the power of Almighty God.
3) WRONG CONFESSION – Instead of consistently speaking the promises of God, I was repeating my medical diagnosis. I told doctors, family, and close friends that I had this condition. I lived in fear of getting ill, and I often complained about my aches and pains.
4) NO ACTION – The Word says, “Faith without action is dead” (James 2:17). All my actions were consistent with my unbelief. I accepted the illness and I stated my diagnosis to others with great confidence.  Since I believed I was sick, symptoms showed up faithfully to confirm my belief. I felt ill and behaved like a sick person.

What was the “deception” that kept me ill? In a nutshell, it was unbelief. What caused the unbelief? My unbelief was created by three factors.

As a result of exalting medical science over the Word of God, a door was opened in my life for deception and fear to take root. Soon, I realized that the spirit of fear is a lying and tormenting spirit. The evil spirit of fear is supported by physical pain and other verifiable symptoms.

In my humble opinion, thousands of mature Christians are living with chronic illness because of LIES, FEAR, and PAIN. This trio demolishes faith.  Divine healing relies on faith in Jesus – not trust in our feelings and intellect.

Jesus approached a man who had been lame for thirty-eight years. When Jesus noticed him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, Do you want to become well? [Are you really in earnest about getting well?] (John 5:6, AMPC, bold added).

This man had been tolerating sickness for thirty-eight years!

Afterward, when Jesus found him in the temple, He said to him, See, you are well! Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you (John 5:14, AMPC).

If you have been tolerating sickness for years, I want to encourage you. “For nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37, NLT).  God heals by miracles and by progressive healings.  As Jesus asked the lame man, “Are you really in earnest about getting well?” If so, here are a few tips that will help you.

3 Steps To Begin Divine Healing

Unshakable Faith – We must know that God can and will heal us, even though natural treatments have failed.

Prayer – We should ask God’s Holy Spirit to reveal to us the reason we are sick.  We are forgiven and cleansed by the blood of Jesus.  Knowing the specific reason a sickness manifested helps us to stay well in the future.

Mind Renewal – We should study the healing ministry of Jesus in the Gospels.  Additionally, there are many excellent teachings on divine healing.  They are readily available in books and on audio and video.

If you find yourself in a medical crisis, one of the finest books ever written on divine healing is Christ the Healer by F.F. Bosworth. In the very least, read, listen to and recite healing scriptures. The healing scriptures alone have miraculous healing power for those who believe. In terms of independent study, read the life (and healing ministry) of Jesus in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Divine healing is ignited by faith in Jesus Christ and the Word of God.  It is accomplished through submission to the Holy Spirit.

It’s never too late!

7 Uncanny Ways the Coronavirus Has Transformed Our Lives

Gail KIng - 7 Uncanny Ways the Coronavirus Has Transformed Our Lives

The Bible says, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” (Genesis 50:20, NIV). In other words, the evil that comes into our lives, God transforms into a blessing. While God did not send the Coronavirus, here’s how He is making it serve millions of people that He loves.

Every citizen must evaluate how she will react to the fear and panic that bombards us. As we observe Wall Street and political forums, we know that fear and panic have an enormous price tag.

On a more subtle note, shouldn’t we develop our spiritual life and renew our dialog with God? Where will we draw the line between fact and fiction? Which message will shape our behavior? Will our values and behavior improve or decline? Will we be remembered as a hero or a villain?

Of course, we use prudence in our everyday affairs (such as hand-washing), but most importantly, each of us has assumed a moral position. Will we be fearful or faith-filled? Will we cower or will we conquer these threats?

We know that underprivileged families have not had access to the home-based technology that is required to compete in our global economy. To excel in school, these tools are required. The rest of society takes for granted the use of high-speed internet, high-end smartphones, laptops, and home computers.

Due to the Coronavirus, this gaping injustice has received more attention. New channels of distributing technology on a more equitable basis will create vast wealth for the visionaries who begin to close this gap.

The world will never be the same. For over a decade, we’ve had the technology to work remotely. However, big business has been slow to embrace this work model within the industries that are able to work from home.  For some time, we have known that remote work can significantly enhance work-life balance by allowing dads and moms to work from home one or more days a week. Remote work is a tremendous recruiting tool for businesses.

During the Coronavirus, worldwide companies were forced to allow workers to work from home. Millions of workers are self-starters and are more efficient working from home while some workers thrive on community and quick access to guidance. This test-drive of individual contributors will provide a wealth of market research that will significantly drive advancement.

Additionally, smaller faith organizations have dived into the creation or expansion of their virtual platform. Other unique populations, such as senior citizens, will receive training in technology as they partner with government, church, and caretakers.

Today, more than ever, individual thought leaders and creators can reach the global marketplace. The Coronavirus is forcing employees to rethink the investment of their time and energy. No doubt, many employees will never return to the job they held before Coronavirus. The virus has opened a door for thousands to return to school or become self-employed.

Small businesses that aren’t nimble could face extinction. On the face, this seems daunting, but in the long haul, our desire to survive drives innovation. We know that small businesses without adequate cash flow cannot always rely on the government for a bailout. Therefore, entrepreneurs must become leaner, operate more efficiently, and develop innovative avenues of reaching new customers.

During this crisis, each citizen has become painfully aware of the names and faces who are driving our economies. The media, politicians, owners of distribution centers, and energy sources have captured our attention. As millions of citizens search for relief, honorable leaders have an opportunity to advance.

For decades we have ignored, and disregarded deaths caused by viruses. In our past, both individuals and businesses have failed to practice sanitation consistently. Following the media attention that the Coronavirus has received, the world population has become more acutely aware of the importance of fighting the spread of disease.

Social pressure has been applied to everyone to be considerate of others and businesses now have a heightened responsibility to protect the safety of patrons.  We can’t unknow what we know.  Going forward, all of us have received an informal education that will help us be more respectful, vigilant and considerate. In

We share thoughts of sadness when we consider the lives that have been lost. We will never truly understand the layered events that contribute to untimely deaths. We may uncover those mysteries when we too, join our loved ones in eternity.

Currently, an avalanche of fear, panic, and negativity seeks to immerse this planet.  Let us remember that Jesus Christ was the greatest optimist that ever lived. He said, “Anything is possible if a person believes” (Mark 9:23, NLT). That means that we can recover and thrive, no matter what happens.

Napoleon Hill said, “Every negative event contains within it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” That is what we are experiencing now. Globally, Christians will become more dedicated to their faith and trust in God. Our economies are not failing; we are feeling the birthing pains of our thrust into a momentous future.

God bless you, have faith and stay safe!

The Fountain of Health Is In Words!

The Fountain of Health

A fountain of health truly exists. There is a limitless reservoir of life that we can freely tap into. It was discovered thousands of years ago, and it continues to operate today.

Years ago, I faced a severe health challenge. I visited top medical centers, doctors, and specialists and got second, third, and fourth opinions. While medicine and procedures brought some relief, it did not cure me. I wanted my health, joy, and strength back.

In desperation, I continued my search for relief. At this time, I was a born-again Christian. By God’s grace, I began to reflect on what I had previously read in the New Testament. Jesus healed them all (Matthew 12:15). No one was left out. I reasoned that if Jesus healed them all, He could heal me.

But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. – Matthew 12:15, NKJV

It was then and there that I made a conscious decision that I would roll up my sleeves and begin to study divine healing. I realized that millions of people remain sick today, but that did not deter me. The Bible says, “God doesn’t have any favorites” (Romans 2:11, CEV), and “Jesus Christ never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8, CEV).

Therefore, if Jesus healed multitudes of people then and now, He would heal me. Of course, I had no idea what the qualifications for divine healing were. Nevertheless, I was determined to find out what principals released God’s divine healing into individuals and apply them to my life.

During this time, I was bedridden and getting about in a wheelchair. In my new quest, I found audio teachings on divine healing, and I had a copy of the Bible on audio. As I lay in bed, I listened to the Bible, listened to modern-day healing testimonials, and gradually learned the principals of divine healing. It didn’t take long to realize that Jesus Christ is the only real fountain of healing. He didn’t impart partial healing – he cured and restored people to perfect health

A vast crowd brought to him people who were lame, blind, crippled, those who couldn’t speak, and many others. They laid them before Jesus, and he healed them all. – Matthew 15:30, NLT

During my illness, I prayed and asked God outright how to get well. This is what He said to me, “Marinate in My Word.” He led me to understand that He meant, “Soak up the Word of God in the Bible, particularly the Word of God that promises divine healing.” I obeyed and I began to heal.

As I placed my faith in the healing promises of God, I was able to sit up. I returned the wheelchair to the medical supply center. I didn’t need a dangerous operation that had been recommended, and I was off medication. I regained my strength and was able to resume work. Jesus (through the Word of God) did for me what no man was able to accomplish.

My only task was to believe Jesus and step out in faith.

  • Faith – I was confident that Jesus could and would heal me. I fully expected to be healed.
  • Action – I had to meditate on the healing scriptures, repeat them aloud, and see myself well. I knew I had to take a step of faith so I returned my wheelchair, choosing to be confident that I would not need it again. I released the homemaker who was caring for me, believing that “I can do all things through Christ who is strengthening me” (Philippians 4:13).

Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. – Psalm 103:2-3, NLT

What good does it do, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith but does not prove it with actions? This kind of faith cannot save him, can it? – James 2:14, ISV

The New Testament in the Bible revealed that those who heard of Jesus and came to Him confident that they too would be healed and they received healing. One man had been an invalid for thirty-eight years (John 5:5). The Bible says, “And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself” (Luke 13:11, ESV). The length of the illness does not matter to Jesus, He is willing to heal us.

No case is too difficult. Jesus restores limbs and heals all manner of sicknesses and diseases.

So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and he cast out many demons. But because the demons knew who he was, he did not allow them to speak. – Mark 1:34, NLT

What was the common denominator that produced healing? The common denominator was faith that Jesus would do what no one else could do.

Jesus said to the woman, “You are now well because of your faith. May God give you peace! You are healed, and you will no longer be in pain.” – Mark 5:34, CEV

Another important revelation is the fact that God and His Word are one. This is how He spoke the world into existence.

In the beginning, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. – John 1:1, NLT

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. – Genesis 1:3, NLT

What is most astounding is that although Jesus walked the earth two thousand years ago, He still lives in the Word of God (in the Bible).  As you read the New Testament, you can see Jesus clearly and walk with Him. The faith required to receive divine healing is engrafted into us as we read or listen to the Bible and/or healing scriptures.

So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. – Romans 10:17, NLT

All healing requires is for us to SEE Jesus and HEAR His Word, which is easily achievable through the Word of God. Multitudes of books, lists, and audio materials have been published that contain the healing scriptures and the healing promises of God.

Here are three favorite healing scriptures. For those who truly believe the Word of God, these scriptures impart divine healing into our spirit, body, and soul. This scripture confirms that when Jesus was whipped and killed, He accepted this punishment to pay for our sins and to remove our sicknesses. In this atonement, He became a scapegoat for us. He has already taken away our infirmities or pain, and any punishments we deserved for sin. As we place our faith in Him and His healing words, both sin and sickness depart from our mortal bodies.

But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. – Isaiah 53:5, NLT

He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. But his wounds, you are healed. – 1 Peter 2:24, NLT

“Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his Word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death. – Psalm 107:19-20, NLT

For some, sickness and pain depart instantly, and this is called a miracle. For others like me, the illness left gradually, which is called healing. Both miracles and healings have their advantages. The advantage of healing progressively is that we can develop great faith and the ability to overcome counterattacks. Additionally, we have an opportunity to learn to effectively pray for the healing of others.

It was through a counterattack that I learned an essential principle of divine healing. After being healed of the initial health scare, about a year later, symptoms of illness returned suddenly. Unprepared, I underwent a medical procedure to avert a health crisis. Over time, I learned that the enemy often returns to test us. If we have remained connected to Jesus and His Word, the devil has no point of reentry. However, if we have stopped meditating on the Word of God and allowed our faith to grow cold, we may be unable to instantly avert a sudden health challenge. We may need to rebuild our faith through meditation on the Word of God.

In God’s graciousness, He healed me again. However, He taught me that I must continue to study His Word and confess His Word aloud to retain my spiritual armor

He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. – Psalm 91:4, NLT

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5, NKJV

When faith in the Word of God is applied, Jesus heals. Our confidence in the Word of God is the fountain that provides healing.

Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I watch over my Word to perform it. – Jeremiah 1:2, ERV

For no word from God will ever fail.” – Luke 1:37, NIV

If you are seeking physical or emotional healing, the Word of God says to “Fight the good fight of faith” (1 Timothy 6:12).  During my prayer time, I once asked God this question. “What is blocking my healing?” He replied, “Deception.”  He wanted me to know that what I believed (about this illness) was a lie.  What I believed did not line up with the Word of God.

Why Faith is Called A Fight

  • Sickness is demonic oppression (Acts 10:38).
  • Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44). His only weapon against us is deception.
  • Sickness cannot attach itself to anyone who meditates on The Truth in God’s Word (John 8:31-32). This is a miraculous fact.
  • Satan uses thoughts of fear, doubt, worry, offense, reports, and even pains and aches to keep us bound to sickness. Do not allow any idea or human opinion to create fear, doubt, or unbelief in your mind!
  • Doubting Jesus and His healing words can prolong illness or prevent it altogether. Even Jesus did not heal people who clung to their unbelief (Matthew 13:58).

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; – 2 Corinthians 10:5, NKJV

Divine healing has not been a cakewalk for me, but God’s Holy Spirit gives the victory to anyone willing to put all her trust in the integrity of the Word of God and persevere. As we stand on God’s Word, His Word will prevail

If you are not satisfied with your present physical or emotional health, know that it’s never too late to receive healing. It is more challenging to remain ill than it is to believe God for healing.

The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions. – Proverbs 28:1, NLT

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ – Isaiah 41:10, NKJV

Begin Your Divine Healing

  • Give your life to Christ through the born-again experience. Visit a church that is able to baptize you and pray for you to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. You do not need to pray in tongues to be healed, but it will boost your faith, help you persevere and, hear God’s directions more clearly. See Mark 16:17-18 below.
  • Invest in a study Bible and (in faith) read the New Testament gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John).
  • Meditate on healing scriptures. There are lists online, audio recordings, and books. Make sure all the material is Christ-centered.
  • Key: Understand that God and His Word are one. As you read and recite healing scriptures in faith, your body is being transformed as you think, meditate or speak.
  • Picture Jesus in your mind’s eye. It is Him and Him alone who heals us. God and His Word become life and health as we experience them (Proverbs 4:20-22).
  • Take His Word (like medicine). Recite a scripture each time you think of illness or feel any discomfort.
  • Memorize one or two scriptures than you can run through your mind all day or at a moment’s notice to chase away fear, doubt, or discomfort.  One powerful scripture to memorize is, “By His stripes, I was healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:17-18, NKJV).

If we retain our confidence in Jesus Christ and the Word of God, we can see our health and emotional wellness turn around. The Fountain of Health is the Word of God, and we turn on the spigot through our faith.

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:32, NKJV
