The Fountain of Health Is In Words!

A fountain of health truly exists. There is a limitless reservoir of life that we can freely tap into. It was discovered thousands of years ago, and it continues to operate today.

Years ago, I faced a severe health challenge. I visited top medical centers, doctors, and specialists and got second, third, and fourth opinions. While medicine and procedures brought some relief, it did not cure me. I wanted my health, joy, and strength back.

In desperation, I continued my search for relief. At this time, I was a born-again Christian. By God’s grace, I began to reflect on what I had previously read in the New Testament. Jesus healed them all (Matthew 12:15). No one was left out. I reasoned that if Jesus healed them all, He could heal me.

But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. – Matthew 12:15, NKJV

It was then and there that I made a conscious decision that I would roll up my sleeves and begin to study divine healing. I realized that millions of people remain sick today, but that did not deter me. The Bible says, “God doesn’t have any favorites” (Romans 2:11, CEV), and “Jesus Christ never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8, CEV).

Therefore, if Jesus healed multitudes of people then and now, He would heal me. Of course, I had no idea what the qualifications for divine healing were. Nevertheless, I was determined to find out what principals released God’s divine healing into individuals and apply them to my life.

During this time, I was bedridden and getting about in a wheelchair. In my new quest, I found audio teachings on divine healing, and I had a copy of the Bible on audio. As I lay in bed, I listened to the Bible, listened to modern-day healing testimonials, and gradually learned the principals of divine healing. It didn’t take long to realize that Jesus Christ is the only real fountain of healing. He didn’t impart partial healing – he cured and restored people to perfect health

A vast crowd brought to him people who were lame, blind, crippled, those who couldn’t speak, and many others. They laid them before Jesus, and he healed them all. – Matthew 15:30, NLT

During my illness, I prayed and asked God outright how to get well. This is what He said to me, “Marinate in My Word.” He led me to understand that He meant, “Soak up the Word of God in the Bible, particularly the Word of God that promises divine healing.” I obeyed and I began to heal.

As I placed my faith in the healing promises of God, I was able to sit up. I returned the wheelchair to the medical supply center. I didn’t need a dangerous operation that had been recommended, and I was off medication. I regained my strength and was able to resume work. Jesus (through the Word of God) did for me what no man was able to accomplish.

My only task was to believe Jesus and step out in faith.

  • Faith – I was confident that Jesus could and would heal me. I fully expected to be healed.
  • Action – I had to meditate on the healing scriptures, repeat them aloud, and see myself well. I knew I had to take a step of faith so I returned my wheelchair, choosing to be confident that I would not need it again. I released the homemaker who was caring for me, believing that “I can do all things through Christ who is strengthening me” (Philippians 4:13).

Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. – Psalm 103:2-3, NLT

What good does it do, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith but does not prove it with actions? This kind of faith cannot save him, can it? – James 2:14, ISV

The New Testament in the Bible revealed that those who heard of Jesus and came to Him confident that they too would be healed and they received healing. One man had been an invalid for thirty-eight years (John 5:5). The Bible says, “And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not fully straighten herself” (Luke 13:11, ESV). The length of the illness does not matter to Jesus, He is willing to heal us.

No case is too difficult. Jesus restores limbs and heals all manner of sicknesses and diseases.

So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and he cast out many demons. But because the demons knew who he was, he did not allow them to speak. – Mark 1:34, NLT

What was the common denominator that produced healing? The common denominator was faith that Jesus would do what no one else could do.

Jesus said to the woman, “You are now well because of your faith. May God give you peace! You are healed, and you will no longer be in pain.” – Mark 5:34, CEV

Another important revelation is the fact that God and His Word are one. This is how He spoke the world into existence.

In the beginning, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. – John 1:1, NLT

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. – Genesis 1:3, NLT

What is most astounding is that although Jesus walked the earth two thousand years ago, He still lives in the Word of God (in the Bible).  As you read the New Testament, you can see Jesus clearly and walk with Him. The faith required to receive divine healing is engrafted into us as we read or listen to the Bible and/or healing scriptures.

So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. – Romans 10:17, NLT

All healing requires is for us to SEE Jesus and HEAR His Word, which is easily achievable through the Word of God. Multitudes of books, lists, and audio materials have been published that contain the healing scriptures and the healing promises of God.

Here are three favorite healing scriptures. For those who truly believe the Word of God, these scriptures impart divine healing into our spirit, body, and soul. This scripture confirms that when Jesus was whipped and killed, He accepted this punishment to pay for our sins and to remove our sicknesses. In this atonement, He became a scapegoat for us. He has already taken away our infirmities or pain, and any punishments we deserved for sin. As we place our faith in Him and His healing words, both sin and sickness depart from our mortal bodies.

But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. – Isaiah 53:5, NLT

He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. But his wounds, you are healed. – 1 Peter 2:24, NLT

“Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent out his Word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death. – Psalm 107:19-20, NLT

For some, sickness and pain depart instantly, and this is called a miracle. For others like me, the illness left gradually, which is called healing. Both miracles and healings have their advantages. The advantage of healing progressively is that we can develop great faith and the ability to overcome counterattacks. Additionally, we have an opportunity to learn to effectively pray for the healing of others.

It was through a counterattack that I learned an essential principle of divine healing. After being healed of the initial health scare, about a year later, symptoms of illness returned suddenly. Unprepared, I underwent a medical procedure to avert a health crisis. Over time, I learned that the enemy often returns to test us. If we have remained connected to Jesus and His Word, the devil has no point of reentry. However, if we have stopped meditating on the Word of God and allowed our faith to grow cold, we may be unable to instantly avert a sudden health challenge. We may need to rebuild our faith through meditation on the Word of God.

In God’s graciousness, He healed me again. However, He taught me that I must continue to study His Word and confess His Word aloud to retain my spiritual armor

He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. – Psalm 91:4, NLT

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5, NKJV

When faith in the Word of God is applied, Jesus heals. Our confidence in the Word of God is the fountain that provides healing.

Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I watch over my Word to perform it. – Jeremiah 1:2, ERV

For no word from God will ever fail.” – Luke 1:37, NIV

If you are seeking physical or emotional healing, the Word of God says to “Fight the good fight of faith” (1 Timothy 6:12).  During my prayer time, I once asked God this question. “What is blocking my healing?” He replied, “Deception.”  He wanted me to know that what I believed (about this illness) was a lie.  What I believed did not line up with the Word of God.

Why Faith is Called A Fight

  • Sickness is demonic oppression (Acts 10:38).
  • Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44). His only weapon against us is deception.
  • Sickness cannot attach itself to anyone who meditates on The Truth in God’s Word (John 8:31-32). This is a miraculous fact.
  • Satan uses thoughts of fear, doubt, worry, offense, reports, and even pains and aches to keep us bound to sickness. Do not allow any idea or human opinion to create fear, doubt, or unbelief in your mind!
  • Doubting Jesus and His healing words can prolong illness or prevent it altogether. Even Jesus did not heal people who clung to their unbelief (Matthew 13:58).

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; – 2 Corinthians 10:5, NKJV

Divine healing has not been a cakewalk for me, but God’s Holy Spirit gives the victory to anyone willing to put all her trust in the integrity of the Word of God and persevere. As we stand on God’s Word, His Word will prevail

If you are not satisfied with your present physical or emotional health, know that it’s never too late to receive healing. It is more challenging to remain ill than it is to believe God for healing.

The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions. – Proverbs 28:1, NLT

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ – Isaiah 41:10, NKJV

Begin Your Divine Healing

  • Give your life to Christ through the born-again experience. Visit a church that is able to baptize you and pray for you to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. You do not need to pray in tongues to be healed, but it will boost your faith, help you persevere and, hear God’s directions more clearly. See Mark 16:17-18 below.
  • Invest in a study Bible and (in faith) read the New Testament gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John).
  • Meditate on healing scriptures. There are lists online, audio recordings, and books. Make sure all the material is Christ-centered.
  • Key: Understand that God and His Word are one. As you read and recite healing scriptures in faith, your body is being transformed as you think, meditate or speak.
  • Picture Jesus in your mind’s eye. It is Him and Him alone who heals us. God and His Word become life and health as we experience them (Proverbs 4:20-22).
  • Take His Word (like medicine). Recite a scripture each time you think of illness or feel any discomfort.
  • Memorize one or two scriptures than you can run through your mind all day or at a moment’s notice to chase away fear, doubt, or discomfort.  One powerful scripture to memorize is, “By His stripes, I was healed” (Isaiah 53:5).

And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:17-18, NKJV).

If we retain our confidence in Jesus Christ and the Word of God, we can see our health and emotional wellness turn around. The Fountain of Health is the Word of God, and we turn on the spigot through our faith.

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:32, NKJV
