Finding and attracting love is not as difficult as it seems. However, it is intentional. God is love, and He created all of us in His likeness and image (Genesis 1:27). At our core, we are intrinsically wired to give and receive love.

Here are four tips that help to find and attract love.  

1) Forgive – Unforgiveness repels love. Forgiveness helps to restore relationships. By forgiving quickly, we maintain the loving relationships that we currently have. All of us are tempted to be offended, but longterm, it robs us of life. Yes, there is a place for creating boundaries, but ninety-nine percent of offense is pride (Proverbs 13:10).

2) Be Loving – Loving people attract loving people. Loving people smile, are helpful, and care about the concerns of others. Friendly people look for ways to serve others and help them feel good about themselves.

3) Be Generous – Generosity isn’t always a matter of giving money. We can be generous in sincere appreciation and encouragement. We can be generous in doing small acts of kindness.

4) Make New Friends – Making new friends is paramount. As time allows, we should remain involved in groups. We may belong to a singles group, a ministry group, a reading club, etc. There are hundreds of local groups that are novel, exciting, and interesting. The point is that we should avoid isolation.

As believers, we should gravitate toward Christian based groups and activities as much as possible. Otherwise, we may find ourselves feeling detached as new friends exhibit socially acceptable behaviors like using four-letter-words.

Finally, the essential adjustment we should make toward finding and attracting love is to work at being loving – 100% of the time!  The Word of God says, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8, NIV).
