Divine Healing In A Nutshell
Years ago, as I faced a severe health challenge, my most valuable asset was the Word of God. It was the Word of God (in the Bible) that caused me to fully recover. I went from feeling hopeless and being pushed around in a wheelchair to finishing a twenty-six-mile marathon. Through meditation on the Word of God, the Holy Spirit accomplished what I could hardly imagine doing by encouraging me to “just believe.”
The two keys to divine healing are these.
1) The Word of God (In the Bible)
2) Our Unwavering Faith in God’s Word
Divine healing is available for anyone willing to turn her entire heart to God, trusting Him above all else. This has been what I have experienced in my own life and the lives of others.
In the Book of Second Peter, it says that God has already given us everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). This means that whatever we need for divine healing, we have it at our fingertips right now. We lack nothing.
How can we know that God will heal us? Some of us are mature and have been suffering for years. Others have been told by prestigious doctors and devoted family that nothing more can be done. Most of us don’t even know anyone who believes in divine healing.
Here’s how the Lord introduced me to divine healing. As a young woman, my mother was saved, but I wasn’t. I didn’t go to church, but I was vexed by all the violence, heartbreak, and devastation in the world. It was at this point that the Holy Spirit inspired me to study the entire Bible to gain wisdom. At this point in my life, I only sought to understand how to escape the heartbreak that seems to engulf humanity.
As I studied the New Testament, I could not help but notice how loving and compassionate Jesus was. Everywhere Christ went, He healed people. Anyone who came to Him in faith, He healed them. In fact, Jesus stated that He only did what His Father God wanted Him to do (John 5:18-20). In other words, God the Father wanted all these people (the saved and the unsaved) to be healed!
Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick (Matthew 14:14, NLT).
A vast crowd brought to him people who were lame, blind, crippled, those who couldn’t speak, and many others. They laid them before Jesus, and he healed them all (Matthew 15:30, NLT).
Years later, when I encountered the severe health threat, the Holy Spirit reminded me that Jesus healed them all. I heard of miracles of healing all over the earth today, so I knew that Jesus had not stopped healing.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8, NLT).
I had confidence that if Jesus was willing to heal anyone, He would heal me. Why not? My wonderful doctors did all they could, but still, I was weak, suffering medicine side effects and facing a life of ongoing medical care. As I laid in bed too weak to sit up for more than twenty minutes at a time, I decided that I would do whatever I needed to do to receive divine healing.
I knew that I might be considered odd or even crazy to believe in God for a miracle of healing. As I considered my options, they were two. I could remain sick and dependent on others to help me around, or I could believe God for a miracle. I decided to believe God for a miracle.
I began to re-read the Bible, and I ordered a large number of audio teachings on divine healing. I watched, read, and listened to healing testimonials. As I studied the Word of God, my faith, confidence, and physical strength increased. This trend continued.
Within the next year, I was out of the wheelchair and was able to resume normal activities of work and self-care. God took me off all medication, paid off thirty thousand dollars in medical bills, kept me financially afloat, and strengthened me to enter and finish a marathon. In addition, I completed ministry school. It was God’s Holy Spirit that accomplished the healing and restoration in my life.
I noticed that some people receive an instant miracle from God, while others receive progressive healing. Progressive healing has the advantage of teaching us to totally rely on God while increasing our faith and our knowledge of God’s ways. Since that time, I have witnessed and received instances of healing miracles as I have applied God’s Word.
I praise God for His faithfulness, and I’ve become very passionate about His ability to surpass all expectations in the realm of divine healing for our physical bodies. I know that “Nothing is impossible for God” (Luke 1:37, NLT).
The Bible tells us that God has no favorites. What He did for the multitudes that put their faith in Jesus, He will do for you. It doesn’t matter how many years you’ve been sick. It doesn’t matter how devastating your condition is. It doesn’t matter how old you are. It doesn’t matter how sinful your life may have been.
Jesus healed the blind, he cured all manner of sicknesses and diseases, he cast out demons, and he raised the dead. Christ died on the cross so that we would be saved, healed, and freed from all forms of bondage, which includes illness. God heals us because of His loving compassion for us and because of His Biblical Covenant promises to us. Christ has already paid for our healing, but we must take possession of it through faith.
If you have pain in your body or your doctors have done all they can, but you are still being treated for a disease,I would like to ask you three important questions.
- Will you believe God for complete healing and wholeness? I didn’t say “can you,” I asked, will you?
- Are you willing to trust in the Word of God more than you believe in any human authority and more than you trust your own five senses?
- Are you satisfied with your Christian walk, or will you dare to believe God for more?
The Bible says, “He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions” (Psalm 107:20, NASB). God’s healing Word is available now to accomplish what no man can accomplish. We are not waiting on God to heal us, He is waiting on us to take possession of what He has already given us.
