4 Steps To Cure Insomnia & Enter Into His Rest

Insomnia is an easy condition for God to cure, but it requires our cooperation.  Below are four steps you can take to illuminate the sources of insomnia and allow Jesus Christ to remove it (once and for all) from your life.

FIRST – SUBMIT TO GOD:  In humility before Christ, let’s rededicate our lives to Christ, standing assured that we are saved. Say this prayer with me, “Father God, according to Romans 10:19, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He died for my sins and rose from dead. Jesus lives praying and interceding for me. Lord Jesus, I repent of all my sins. I turn back to God and ask you, Jesus, please live your life in and through me. I belong to you, and I know that I am saved now. Amen.”

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. – Romans 10:9, NLT

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. – James 4:7

SECOND – FREE YOUR MIND: Let’s remove all anxiety, worry, and guilt. “Father in Jesus Name, I give you all the following concerns.” Tell God what they are. “Father, your Word says, I should cast all my cares on Jesus, for He cares deeply for me. I give all anxiety, over-anxiousness, and worry (concerning these matters) to Christ. Father, in Jesus’ Name, please resolve all these matters in your way. Father, I will be obedient to do what you tell me to do. Most importantly, I will trust Jesus to resolve everything, for all things are possible with God.”

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:7, NIV

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. – Isaiah 41:10, NLT

THIRD – RECEIVE DIVINE GUIDANCE: “Father, please tell me clearly if there is something else for me to do. Is there anything I should stop doing? My confidence is not in myself or the wisdom of any man.  I will do what is prudent to resolve these issues; however, I will continually trust Jesus for a positive outcome. Starting today, I have purposed in my heart that I will never again worry over anything.

“Lord, Your Word says that my body is the temple of your Holy Spirit, and no one should do anything to destroy it. Let me know if there are natural behaviors that I must alter to bring rest to my body. What you reveal to me, I will do. I will no longer abuse my body. I turn from worry, focusing on negative outcomes, overwork, or eating and drinking in ways that don’t bless my body.”

“Lord, tell me what time to go to sleep and what time to wake up each day. As I fall asleep, I will recite a comforting scripture or listen to an audio recording containing the Word of God. I will no longer fall asleep meditating on the cares of this world or listening to worldly stimuli.”

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. – James 1:5, NIV

You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. – John 14:13, NLT

FOURTH – SPEAK IN FAITH: “Lord, I will begin to confess daily (in faith), I HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, NOTHING TO FEAR AND NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT.” I will avoid negativity because Jesus is resolving every issue in my life. I will not indulge in the sins of slander and gossip. I am starting anew and standing in faith.”

Boldly (and with authority) declare the following out loud. “In the Name of Jesus, I command insomnia, illness, sickness, disease, pain, fear, doubt, worry, and stress to LEAVE MY BODY now! Insomnia, I bind your work – leave me and never return! The peace of Almighty God that surpasses human understanding guards my mind and heart in Christ Jesus. I call this done in Jesus’ Name – Amen.”

Repeat this anytime you feel challenged by sleeplessness. Say boldly, “Insomnia, in the Name of Jesus, leave my body!” Then immediately, turn your mind to repeating your calming scripture, “The peace of God guards my heart and mind in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7). Repeat your scripture until you drift off to sleep.

What you say can preserve life or destroy it, so you must accept the consequences of your words. – Proverbs 18:21, Good News Translation

Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness. – Matthew 10:1, NLT

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. – 2 Timothy 1:7, NKJV

MY STORY
I suffered from sleeplessness for over 10 years. Doctors prescribed sleeping pills to help me relax, and I believed that I could not sleep without the pills.   Eventually, the Lord revealed to me areas of my life where I had allowed this condition to take hold. One major area was anxiety and worry. Another area was partaking of stimulating beverages and foods that did not bless me as an individual.   The most challenging obstacle to my peace was the worry. Stress and anxiety have to be banished daily. We do this by using our faith.  God has given all of us faith, but we must use it. The key to success is to LET GO AND LET GOD. We must become determined to trust in Christ 100%.

4 Steps To Banish Stress (Practice Daily)

1) PRAY – Lift each challenge in prayer, asking for God’s guidance and help.

2) OBEY – Do what God tells you to do, what is prudent and what you know is right (honorable). Ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?”

3) HAVE FAITH – Commit the entire matter to Jesus, trusting Him 100% for a positive outcome. Be patient and never be fooled if things seem to get worse in the interim. In the long run, with God, you can’t lose!  Refuse worry, because worry destroys our faith and our peace. God Himself gives us the grace to prevail and succeed.

4) REPEAT THE WORD – Find a scripture that pertains to the matter and repeat it each time a disturbing thought enters your mind. One such scripture is, “Nothing is impossible for God.” (Luke 1:37, CEV).

Summary
Each case of insomnia is unique, but each case can be cured by Jesus Christ. Be determined to use your faith. Meditate upon and recite the prayers above. Listen to God’s still small voice within you and be obedient to make the changes that God urges you to make.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. – Romans 10:17, KJV

My dear sister or brother, do not live with insomnia and sleeplessness! Sickness is not from God! He wants us well. Insomnia is a tormenting experience. Start to feel better immediately by submitting your mind (thought life) to Him – resist the devil and tell him to FLEE!

Like you, I am a work in progress. Each morning and all during the day, I consciously remind myself, “Do not worry. Trust in Jesus!”

Favorite scriptures to mediate on or recite as you fall asleep:

  • Psalm 23
  • Psalm 91
  • Isaiah 41:10
  • The Bible on Audio (New Testament)

Here’s what I’ve learned about discomfort and sickness. There is no reason to live with (or put up with) any illness. Faith moves mountains!

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. – Ephesians 3:20, NLT
